Si terrà  venerdi’ 17 novembre a partire dalle ore 21:30 a Carovigno (BR) presso la suggestiva sede del  Kantiere Sociale “Peppino Impastato” nei pressi del Centro Storico, il concerto di musiche ambient strumentali del musicista Mimmo D’Ippolito, tastierista e compositore  classe ’82 carovignese, da anni attivo nel panorama underground italiano e non (anche col monicker Eternalkeys), diversi lavori autoprodotti (Ep, Singoli, album full –leght, compilations) distribuiti esclusivamente in digitale per diverse etichette indipendenti (Electro Arc, Wondermark, Petroglyph Music, Happy Life, Hort. Conclusus….), disponibili nei digital stores (I tunes, Amazon, 7 Digital, Discogs, Google play….); live  rari per scelta personale,  numerose collaborazioni con videomakers e filmakers, e riscontri positivi riguardo allo streaming in fatto di ascolti e recensioni sui canali web (Soundcloud, Youtube, Facebook, Spotify, Deezer, Reverbnation, Myspace…), oltre a diversi passaggi radiofonici in molte web radio. Mimmo D’Ippolito in questa unica e rara data suonerà diversi brani esclusivamente inediti (dei quali ne è l’autore) del succitato genere,  un concentrato unico di sonorità molto lontane dai soliti clichè commerciali, che spaziano dall’elettronica dal sapore vintage , passando per la cinematic music, atmosfere Chill out, fino al pianismo moderno.

Recensione Ep "Glacial Wind" su "Graffiti Musicali"

Mimmo D’Ippolito è infatti bravo a convogliare un’idea su due distinte- ma anche alternative, complementari e vicendevolmente integrative- vie comunicative. Una, più bucolica ed ipnotica- “Farewell to Childhood”- l’altra più cinica ed aggressiva (la title track).

Si tratta di due emisferi dello stesso pianeta, di due stanze della stessa casa, di due anime esteticamente disgiunte ma unite concettualmente. I rintocchi di pianoforte su tappeto di chitarra di “Farewell to Childhood” equivalgono alla sintesi fredda e bruciante di “Glacial Wind”, lo spirito primaverile e tiepido della prima parte del disco è lo specchio delle gelide distese della title track.

L’unica variabile relativamente estranea a questa visione è l’intromissione elettronica della seconda parte di “Glacial Wind”. Non tanto per l’effetto generale, molto vicino alle idee atmosferiche di John Carpenter, quanto per la violenza con cui ritmo e cibernetica s’impossessano della scena, usurpando il ruolo naturale dei presupposti ambient fino a quel momento dominanti e rompendo un rapporto di mutua coercizione tra musiche ed ascolto che di certo poteva essere più gratificante.

Insomma, tanto per capirci, “Glacial Wind” è un punto di partenza, non certo d’arrivo: praticamente un potenziale album ridotto alle sue più estreme conseguenze. Detto altrimenti, non il dettaglio di un lavoro più complesso ma il lavoro stesso condensato nello spazio di sue sole realtà, una sana l’altra tossica, una rassicurante l’altra tesissima, una fresca l’altra torbida.

Se tutto questo, un domani dovesse diventare un full-length… beh, mi prenoto sin da ora per valutarne pesi e misure!

The EP "Eternal Rose" by Eternalkeys, an Instrumental project created by the Italian keyboardist and modern composer Mimmo D'Ippolito, is based on different concretive piano melodies and fragile, bright synthesizer strings, both ingredients that usually enforce melancholy and solitude but instead form a soothing, ever so slightly dream-like and misterious atmosphere. This creation of Mimmo D'Ippolito is of a melodious and mystic nature that captures the listener's imagination across a chilly bewilderment and an allegoric, ethereal winter ambience.

  “Cryin’ Ghost” is an Ep that including two track in style ambient, electronic, cinematic with mysterious mood typical of composer. “Cryin’ Ghost” was recorded on 2008 (single) is an  ambient , electronic , cinematic track with a very great mysterious thriller, suspence mood, that bring mind on desolate places, nightmares, tension of life, an in particular describe with sounds ghosts (as the title may say), supernatural events generally, and haunted mood. “Train Bridge” was recorded on 2013, is an ambient, electronic, cinematic track divided in 3 parts: 1 Ambient intro, 2 main theme, 3 final piano ending; at the moment of listen bring ears and mind on some vintage telefilms themes, so mysterious in his sounds and atmospheres, with a great idm drum machine, and a final vintage relaxing piano atmosphere . Tracks are self produced by Mimmo D’Ippolito, artwork and everything was/is/are made by Mimmo D’Ippolito too, that back at the origins with his self production, track are re – editing on April 2016.

Perfectly representative of an enchanting and deep/ambient/new-wave sound!!!! The journey in this musical world sounds like walking through the clouds during a thunderstorm. I feel completely safe there, as I'm carrying a massive umbrella that protects me from the lightning as I hop from thunderhead to thunderhead. I'm surrounded by a faint red glow. Electrical rays shoot into the star, nebula, and galaxy-filled night sky above!!!!

Trama

E’ l'alba del 22 luglio 2017. Anna Persico trova al suo risveglio una scatola rossa. Dentro, solo un cartiglio con simboli indecifrabili. Da quel momento la sua vita non sarà più la stessa. Poco dopo riceve la telefonata di un’amica che le chiede di raggiungerla: ha bisogno di aiuto. Solo poche e concitate parole per spiegarle che si trova in una villa diroccata nelle vicinanze, prima che la comunicazione si interrompa. Contemporaneamente, il 16 ottobre 1817, il commissario Fosco Oleari indaga sul suicidio di Vittoria Clementi, una ragazza identica ad Anna. Sulla scena vengono ritrovati anche un abito e un bastone macchiati di sangue. La moglie di un medico del luogo risulta scomparsa dal giorno prima. Cosa le riserverà il passato?

Hum Sub Khoobsurat Hai'n, inspired by the Twilight Zone episode "The Eye of the Beholder', is a story of a young girl, Nargis, who has led a difficult life of isolation only because of the way she looked. Doctors have been treating her for several years leading to her final surgery. Stakes are high for Nargis, the doctors and society, in general. In the end we are all driven by fear and love.

Recensione "Arcanum Secret" su METALWAVE webzine

Arcanum Secret è il terzo album solo ambient del Brindisino Mimmo d’Ippolito, che ci propone 10 tracce per poco meno di 31 minuti di musica ambient rilassante, moody e interessantissima. Il cd è quasi tutto imperniato sulla tastiera, con circa due brani con le percussioni e uno solo (il settimo brano) con anche un arpeggio di chitarra acustica. La voce non c’è mai. Ora, da qui a pensare a brani non particolari, direi quasi casuali e a cui si può dare un senso solo grazie al titolo della canzone, il passo è breve, ma fortunatamente Eternalkeys ci restituisce un lavoro valido, che sin dalle prime note di “Letters and pages” fino alla settima canzone compresa non sbaglia una nota e in circa 3 minuti a brano, si riesce ad ottenere un ottima atmosfera che rispecchio davvero l’umore suggerito dai titoli delle canzoni. In particolare, è proprio la prima canzone ad essere convincente, mentre avrei preferito che “Parallelives”, “memories gone” e soprattutto “Dragon’s gate” fossero più lunghe, in quanto la loro estrema atmosfera le rende sì suggestive ma sfortunatamente brevi e degne forse di uno sviluppo o di una ripetizione di questi temi in modo da immergere ancora di più l’ascoltatore nel feeling sprigionato dalla canzone. Unico difetto dell’album? Probabilmente una ottava e nona canzone un po’ niente di speciale e che mostrano la prima uno stile poco comunicativo, l’altra semplicemente mi delude: da una canzone chiamata “Glacial Wind” mi aspettavo un tuffo sonoro nel vento gelido di qualche landa desolata nordica, ma così non è, e la seconda parte drum n bass non capisco cosa dovrebbe rappresentarmi. Per fortuna la canzone conclusiva ci mette una pezza. Insomma: un po’ corto e con le canzoni che si potevano far durare di più, ma l’album è buono e decisamente desiderabile. "Arcanum Secret" review by Markus Mala

Arcanum Secret

by Eternalkeys is a ten piece instrumental album, with rather short timing expressions, the pieces are very cinematic that would fit fine to soundtracks. Maybe the movies are still to be created, but in this case the moods can go very easy to various emotional moments. Intro with "letters and pages" very acoustic like a piano prelude, then "Second War" is more dramatic with a tension like in a thriller story. I like "Parallelives" that resonate with me, a chill soft piece with a downtempo feel, with airy synth melody and sweeps, and a multi-rythmical line with various percussions, tuned or not. "Memories gone" is back to unplugged music, an intimate piano song. "Dragon's gate" is another procession for an heroic soundtrack tale, with orchestra effects and choirs. After a slow intro "Future goes" into a dark relentless synthesized motion, like going into happenings you can't avoid. Next piece "farewell to childhood" would fit more into a nice chill out new age decorum, gentle acoustic guitar arpeggios that support a beautiful piano melody, a place were you can feel well. "Monumental Sign" is like the name, a sountrackish movement with gradual orchestral parts and timpani percussions growing to a climax, that suddenly stopped to a more gentle part, it's like a two faces piece. "Glacial winds" brings you into some cold ambiant washes that blows you in some frozen places, it could stop there but a jungle groove comes in and is shaking you into a more speedy rythmics, this wind brings you on this motion, all with great pads. "The train bridge" is a track with a little mystery tension in the beginning, but a beat leads you into another move, with jumping sweeping sounds in a slow tempo. follows then a gentle piano song takes you by the hand to a nostalgic but lightening them for that ending.

finally we get here an very various album, the short tracks don't show you immediately there secrets, and have sometimes many moods inside, it's a lovely album, were you get full of different moods, like in a soundtrack journey, the music tell his own story and makes the sound movie for your mind.
